Try a Trade Readiness Course

Trade Readiness Courses in building and plumbing are open to anyone in years 9 to 12. They last five days and are like being in a real work environment. All TRC teachers are trade-qualified and the courses are industry-supported. A Trade Readiness Course can be delivered by TAFE NSW in your high school providing the school also has the Mathematics in Trades pathway as part of its curriculum. Students will receive a detailed course performance report and will be interviewed by industry personnel. TAFE NSW is currently delivering TRC in bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, painting & decorating, signs & graphics, wall & ceiling lining, and wall & floor tiling.

School Subject Selection Flyers

These flyers are suitable for both school-based apprenticeships or post-school apprenticeships. Each flyer sets out a possible career path for the student and then suggests the elective subjects that will make that career path possible. The subject lists cover choices in years 9 & 10 and 11 & 12.

The flyers are designed to make sourcing information easy for careers advisers too. Each flyer features a strong, identifiable image that indicates each type of apprenticeship. Laid out side by side, comparisons between subject choices are simple. As a resource, they also help students and parents as a starting point to exploring the construction and plumbing industry.
